He Saw the Sign “God is Love”

Termaine moved here from the Bronx with his fiancée. They had been together seven years and were trying to buy a house. But their “party lifestyle” got in the way.

“We were drinking and smoking marijuana. We would work, then party…then start calling in sick to party.”

Drunk and on drugs, the couple got into a “huge fight,” and when the smoke cleared, Tremaine left.

I remember walking around Allentown trying to find somewhere to go and walking past the ‘God is love’ sign. Termaine was welcomed into our Gateway Center emergency shelter where, in addition to meals, clothing and shelter, he received the encouragement he needed to join our Christian Living and Values Transitional Program and address the problems that had made him homeless.
